Most comparisons of route optimization software are written by review aggregators, for the US market. This one is different in two declared ways: it is written for companies that deliver in Italy, and a vendor signs it. Optivo is one of the eight tools, we say so upfront, and the same criteria apply to everyone: no scores and no ranking, just what each product states on its own pages, its pricing model and who it makes sense for. Facts were read from the official sites on 3 November 2026.
The method for choosing, with the constraints to test first and the questions to ask in a demo, is in our guide to choosing route optimization software. This page has the names.
In short
- Four tools publish a price list (OptimoRoute, Routific, Onfleet, Route4Me); the other four work on quotes.
- There are three pricing models: per driver per month, per delivery or delivery volume, and a quote built on fleet and modules.
- Three can be used in Italian (OptimoRoute and Nomadia, plus the Italian vendors Cargoful and Optivo); Routific, Onfleet and Route4Me work in English.
- What really separates the tools is the constraints they handle and who follows your onboarding, as the guide explains.
How we compared
For each tool we looked at four things: the family it belongs to (self-service planner, on-demand dispatch, enterprise suite or assisted-onboarding platform, as defined in the guide), the pricing model and what it includes, the trial on offer and the Italian presence. Stated capabilities come from official sites; where we maintain a detailed comparison page, we link it.
Constraints remain the deciding criterion, and no table covers them properly: multiple time windows, limited traffic zones, owner-operators and multi-temperature compartments weigh differently on every fleet. Before any demo it pays to write down your own list. For Optivo’s constraints the answer is already public: with the constraint check you select the constraints of your actual operation and see in two minutes which ones the engine already handles, without booking a demo.

The eight tools, one by one
OptimoRoute
The most cited self-service planner in the category. Per-driver pricing with a public price list, a 30-day trial and a free account with no credit card: the shortest path to starting on your own. It handles standard constraints (time windows, capacity, priorities), plans across multiple days and ships a driver app with proof of delivery. The site is translated into Italian; support stays centralized. A reasonable choice for a small operator with standard scenarios who wants to start right away; the point-by-point comparison with Optivo is in our dedicated page.
Routific
A Canadian self-service planner built for local delivery, with one distinctive choice: since 2024 pricing is per delivered order rather than per driver. Up to 100 orders a month it is free, then $150 a month up to 1,000 orders and volume tiers beyond. Optimization with time windows, capacities and shifts, customer tracking and proof of delivery. It positions itself for growing businesses in North America and Europe, with a declared focus on food; the site has no Italian version. Interesting for low and variable volumes, where paying per delivery costs less than paying per driver.
Onfleet
A dispatch and delivery orchestration platform: your own fleet, third-party couriers or both, with automatic assignment of orders that arrive during the day. Plans start at $619 a month for 2,500 completed deliveries, with a 14-day trial on the mid plan. Strong on customer notifications, proof of delivery and regulated verticals such as pharmacy and labs (in the US). Planned-route optimization exists, but the center of gravity is real time. The site has no Italian version. It makes sense for high-volume on-demand operations; the comparison with Optivo is in our dedicated page.
Route4Me
One of the longest-standing names in the category, active since 2009. Three plans from $199 to $349 a month and a 7-day trial with no credit card; many capabilities, from recurring routing to SMS notifications to commercial vehicle routing, are paid add-ons, so the final price is assembled item by item. Broad functional coverage across planning, dispatch and tracking. The site is in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese, with no Italian. Worth evaluating if you want deep modularity and already know which add-ons you need; the comparison with Optivo is in our dedicated page.
Nomadia TourSolver
The optimization engine of the French vendor Nomadia, which states more than 200 configurable parameters and constraints: capacities, skills, multiple objectives up to CO2. A 15-day trial with no credit card, no public price list. The site has an Italian version; a direct presence in Italy is not stated on the product pages. For full delivery management Nomadia offers a separate product (Nomadia Delivery). Worth a look for fleets with articulated constraints that want a configurable European engine and accept assembling the solution from several pieces.
PTV OptiFlow
The cloud optimization product of PTV Logistics, a German group with a long history in distribution and published Italian references. It plans across three horizons (operational, tactical and strategic) and simulates scenarios from a written question with the Mira agent. Sales are enterprise, on quotes; vehicle visibility, driver app and proof of delivery live in a separate product (PTV Axylog), and on-board hardware comes from a telematics vendor. It is the reference for large networks, including multi-country ones, with an IT team governing the integrations. The detailed comparison is in our dedicated page.
Cargoful
A Milan-based Italian startup that presents itself as a suite of AI agents for transportation management: planning, execution, control tower and a conversational assistant that answers operational questions. Strong at the network level, with delivery zone design, tariff simulation and fleet sizing. Pricing is quote-based. It does not state vehicle telematics of its own: for fuel data and diagnostics you pair it with a telematics vendor. Worth evaluating for companies looking for Italian AI across overall transport management.
Optivo
Our platform, Italian, in the assisted-onboarding family. OptivoRoute, Optivo’s route optimization software, plans rounds on a library of constraints that are already active: multi-temperature compartments with variable geometry, paired pickups and deliveries, owner-operators paid per drop alongside your own vehicles, fixed rounds, limited traffic zones as vehicle permits. Orders come in from Excel, PDF, photos or free text through Magic Order; drivers close a delivery in three taps from a browser app; OptivoTrack tracks vehicles with an OBD device, the CAN bus or hardware-free from the manufacturer’s data, in the same contract. On the public C1_10_1 benchmark the engine lands 0.04% from the best known solution in 34.5 seconds. The quote is sized on fleet, modules and planned volumes, with no public price list, and instead of a free trial there is a demo on your real data. It is not built for the instant dispatch of on-demand riders.
Which one for which operation
- Few vehicles, standard constraints, start today: OptimoRoute, or Routific if volume is low and variable.
- Orders arriving during the day, third-party couriers, high volume: Onfleet.
- Deep modularity, assembling the price from add-ons: Route4Me.
- A configurable European engine, solution in several pieces: Nomadia TourSolver.
- Large network, several countries, a dedicated IT team: PTV OptiFlow.
- Overall transport governance with Italian AI agents: Cargoful.
- Planned rounds with sector constraints, one vendor for optimization, tracking and driver app, onboarding followed in Italian: Optivo.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best route optimization software for deliveries in Italy?
There is no best one across the board: it depends on constraints, volume and who plans today. The reliable way to choose is a test on your own data, with the hardest day of the month. The criteria, family by family, are in our guide to choosing.
Which of these tools offer a free trial?
As of 3 November 2026: OptimoRoute 30 days plus a free account, Nomadia TourSolver 15 days, Onfleet 14 days on the Scale plan, Route4Me 7 days; Routific has a permanent free plan up to 100 orders a month. PTV, Cargoful and Optivo work on request: Optivo offers a demo built on your fleet’s real data.
Which ones publish their prices?
OptimoRoute (per driver per month), Routific (per delivered order), Onfleet and Route4Me (monthly plans, with paid add-ons in Route4Me’s case). Nomadia, PTV, Cargoful and Optivo quote. What matters in the comparison is what the price includes: tracking devices, onboarding and support can sit inside or outside it.
Does non-Italian software work for deliveries in Italy?
It can, with three checks: how it handles limited traffic zones (a zone with hours, a vehicle permit, a size cap on the stop, or nothing), whether your sector’s constraints are active or need development, and what language support speaks when a round breaks at 7 in the morning. These are questions 3, 4 and 12 of the list to ask every vendor.
