Commercial vehicle incentives 2026: the practical guide to arrive ready for the call

Three different measures, often confused: the Ecobonus, PNRR incentives for micro-enterprises and the DPCM Automotive. This guide lines up who can access what, with a requirements checklist, the scrapping documents and the fleet data to prepare before the opening. No news summary: concrete steps.

What's inside

  • Map of the three 2026 measures (Ecobonus, PNRR micro-enterprises, DPCM Automotive) with beneficiaries, eligible powertrains and deadlines compared
  • Decision tree: which measure is yours, based on company size, powertrain and location
  • Requirements checklist for each measure (size, location, type of activity, vehicle category)
  • Scrapping documents checklist (category, Euro class, length of ownership)
  • "Photograph the fleet" framework: the per-vehicle data to gather before the call
  • Table of eligible powertrains by measure (BEV, FCEV, gas, hybrid, conventional)
  • Timeline of the DPCM Automotive process and what to do while waiting for the opening
  • Mini-framework to assess renewal on TCO/km instead of the discounted price
  • Common mistakes to avoid when chasing a first-come-first-served incentive
  • List of the official portals where to verify up-to-date amounts and deadlines

Who this is for

  • Owner or manager of a freight-transport SME planning fleet renewal in 2026
  • Fleet manager with a mixed fleet deciding which vehicles to replace and with which powertrain
  • Urban-delivery micro-enterprise evaluating the switch to electric with the PNRR incentives
  • CFO/controller who needs to quantify the real impact of the incentive on total cost of ownership

Frequently asked

Does the guide contain the exact contribution amounts?

The guide explains how the amounts are structured (by weight band and powertrain in the Ecobonus, as a percentage of the price in the PNRR incentives) and shows where to read the values in force. We don't include "definitive" euro tables, because they change with each refinancing or implementing decree: publishing crystallised figures would be misleading. For the €180 million of the DPCM in particular, the amounts aren't official yet.

Is it up to date as of June 2026?

Yes. The guide reflects the state of the measures as of June 2026: Ecobonus and PNRR micro-enterprise incentives active (the latter expiring on 30 June 2026, unless funds run out) and the DPCM Automotive signed but not yet operational. We'll update the document when the DPCM call opens.

Is it useful if I haven't yet decided which vehicles to buy?

Yes — in fact it's the right moment. The "photograph the fleet" framework and the TCO/km mini-framework are designed precisely to decide which vehicles to replace and with which powertrain, before choosing the model and the incentive.

Is it only for large fleets?

No. The measures are aimed at micro-enterprises and SMEs; the guide is useful even with a handful of units. It's worth remembering, though, that a single badly chosen vehicle can wipe out the benefit of an incentive: that's why the TCO section is central at any size.
