OTIF (On-Time In-Full) is the KPI that measures the share of deliveries made on time and in full: arrived within the agreed window and with all the ordered goods, with no shortages or errors. It’s one of the key indicators of logistics service level.
How it’s calculated
OTIF is expressed as a percentage: a delivery counts as “OTIF” only if it meets both conditions (on-time AND complete). A delivery that’s on time but incomplete, or complete but late, is not OTIF. That’s what makes it a demanding indicator.
Why it matters
OTIF reflects the reliability the customer perceives and directly affects satisfaction, contractual penalties and exception-handling costs. It improves with reliable ETAs, last-mile optimisation and a Digital Proof of Delivery that documents the real outcome of each delivery.
FAQ
What’s the difference between on-time and in-full?
“On-time” measures punctuality (delivery within the agreed window); “in-full” measures completeness (all the ordered goods). OTIF requires both to be satisfied.
Why is OTIF stricter than a simple on-time rate?
Because it combines two conditions: a single delay or shortage fails the whole delivery. It therefore measures service quality more completely.
